damsel in distress? Not for Disney's "Rapunzel"
I "Rapunzel" is now seen twice already and the film inspires me more and more. The 50 th Disney animation movie can definitely connect to the great masterpieces of the past and I do not think it presumptuous to "Rapunzel" in the same breath as, for example, to call "Aladdin". I really like the movie just incredibly fun! I feel so right back to my childhood when I was with wondering eyes the first time in the cinema and I have to be enchanted by the fairy tale on the screen. I think it went most of the children in the performances I attended as well, but without the most beautiful portion of nostalgia that I feel in this film.
where "Rapunzel" is not old-fashioned but, oh no. The basic structure of the story stayed with the story there, with small changes here and there: Rapunzel is kidnapped as a baby from Mother Gothel because they want to have the healing and rejuvenating power of Rapunzel's hair for themselves. Gothel moves to the minor as their own daughter, but she closes out of selfishness into a tucked-away tower and told her horror stories about the world outside of the tower. When, shortly before Rapunzel's 18th Birthday at once located the thief on the run with her Flynn appears in the tower, she convinces him to take her into town. Rapunzel's dream is, indeed, even the more to see her birthday lanterns rising up close. Flynn agrees - reluctantly - a, and so the adventure takes its course.
If we were now in an old-fashioned fairy tale, the hero would take over the whole rescue Flynn, and Rapunzel would be good to escape. There is a little different - Rapunzel is because of their circumstances endearingly naive, but not nearly fell on my head and come with a good portion of beans, curiosity and courage. Actually, even most of them
it that Flynn talks, difficult situations.
Flynn Rider is a charming rogue, very full of himself and master at making enemies everywhere. A good part of his appearance is just a facade and actually he is a really nice guy. Of course, he put Rapunzel and discover at some point that they feel something for each other. * Sigh * Do not always be a
prince on a white stallion.
To calm doubters may still last: despite the presence on Flynn's in the trailers, this film really is Rapunzel, her path to independence (so to speak). Flynn is ... also there. :) And the film is not only slapstickartigem humor.
Oh, there is still the animal sidekicks, without which a Disney film would simply not a Disney movie. These are the chameleon Pascal, Rapunzel loyal (and only) friend, and the palace horse Maximus, that makes the job of his rider and Flynn followed. Although they do not speak (I would have in this movie somehow found unsuitable), but have such a great facial expression and body language that they often steal the show. Both were previously in any of the visited me ideas on particularly well and living on very good timing.
The villain of the film, Mother Gothel (which incidentally, is not once mentioned by name), is also very good. How to read, Disney employees were asked which properties they are to mothers particularly terrible, and it all flowed in with a Gothel. From the permanent cheek pinching, on common Bermek to tough for the other person does not really comprehensible prohibited all there. The relationship between her and Rapunzel is complicated, I still have not decided if they really like Rapunzel
only because of the magic hair, or whether the girl is not so at least a little love. With progressive action but it is always sneaky and mean and needs before the classic Disney villains, not to hide.
The German synchronization succeeded in my opinion very well. Of course I can only compare the songs really, but because I actually liked both the German and the English versions quite as good, only the pubs song "I'm 'nen dream" I think in German much more convincing. Alexandra Neldel
is staffed entirely appropriate and conveys emotions Rapunzel's very credible. The role fits, you take it from her. Rapunzel's singing voice, Pia, Allgaier, I also liked very much, and it sounds basically like the Neldel. Really well chosen.
Moritz Bleibtreu was so in the run-eyed particularly critical (including Disney fans now have a very pronounced - every celebrity is in principle look that bad, except he is comedian * g *). I think he has done his job well. His voice is right for Flynn, in any case, and even if he is not brash in his voice easily accessible stores completely, it never happened to me on the nerves or seemed to me inappropriate. Good performance, it could calm down all your back. It is sung by Manuel Straube (known as Stewie from "Family Guy", but he sang in 1994 already the young Simba in The Lion King "and said Emile in" Ratatouille "), whose voice is well suited to Bleibtreu and short in the vocals delivers.
mother Gothel spoken by Monika Bielstein, an old hand in synchronous operations (including Emma Thompson, Cybill Shepherd, but even for Disney as Bianca in "Bernard and Bianca in kangaroo country" and Rita in "Olver & Co."). She is absolutely credible and pulls out all the stops to "love Mom "to" evil bitch. "Is sung Gothel Christine Leyser, also appropriately selected. It is the first use of the song" mother knows more "friendly than its English counterpart, Donna Murphy, what I feel is not necessarily disturbing. Thus, the contrast to the later reprise of the song stronger. The text wraps but the original better.
René Marik, perhaps best known for his "Rapante Rapante" videos on Youtube, saith the Stabbington-brothers, who were behind gone by Flynn and revenge in mind, I do not know why Marik was chosen for the role -. because it is still enough speakers who have a naturally deep voice, he has to. obviously strive to achieve these grumpy tone, but it moves in the frame.
All other actors are well chosen and I'm happy when Maximus' tab to hear just Jörg Hengstler (including Quentin Tarantino, Kogoro Mori in "Detective Conan"). Juhu!
What is a real Disney fairy tale needs, of course, songs. These were composed by Alan Menken tried and true, which we have been indebted to the classics from "Ariel" and "Beauty and the Beast." He has composed this time no big Broadway show numbers for which was specifically written a scene, but songs that develop naturally from the scene changing, so rather on the paths of earlier Disney-like fairy tale "Sleeping Beauty". They drive the plot or tell something about the characters, so the audience can better understand the individual motivations.
Rapunzel scored with "When my life begins" a nice opener, but the first sounds a bit Disney-typical, but in the later Reprise At length. Gothel "mother knows more" is especially interesting because of the text in which it warns Rapunzel in front of all the dangers of the outside world and its einbläut same time that they would never cope alone outside. The reprise is great and very well staged. A bit lax the pub number "I 've NEN dream "- it is nicely done and is also suitable for swaying, but it would not necessarily have to be
The heart of the songs, however." Finally, I see the light ", the great ballad of Rapunzel and Flynn The song in itself. is a really pretty ballad, a song for big Beltgesang, but delicate, his heart going and the song has the good fortune in one of the best moments occur of Disney animation history.. The lantern scene when Flynn and Rapunzel sitting in their boat, look at the castle and are surrounded by thousands of lanterns, which is breathtakingly beautiful and just ... magical. For this scene alone is worth the film. and good for City Assembly of Irish-influenced dance music.
even briefly to the technical aspect of "Rapunzel". On the computer animation, there is absolutely nothing to complain about, you have actually managed to transfer the animated look of the characters believable. The backgrounds are a dream, and this was often used previously so the advertised oil painting look. Although I'd heard of it, but has now no hope in the great revolution of the CGI animation, so I was not a bit disappointed, but just thrilled by the beautiful animation. Especially the use of light is impressive!
The 3D effect is mainly used to deepen the picture, only the lanterns scene worked hard with protruding out of the screen images. And that is when the children are very good - each time it was astonished Ohs and Ahs.
The only negative thing I can think of is that the act does not just win the original price. However, I had not expected, and it has spiced up the story quite well but without in any way to make it funny.
Long story short: Disney's "Rapunzel" is a wonderful film for the whole family, at once a homage to the glorious tradition of Disney fairy tale and development for our times. The film is funny, dramatic, romantic, with a good bit of action in it and also looks great. So, perfect for the holiday season! Clean Go!
