What Is That Wall That Seperates A Kitchen From

Black Swan: A psychological horror thriller. With ballet.

Oh. My. God. In retrospect, I'm not sure I would have viewed this film at all if I had been aware of, which includes scenes of "Black Swan". I once again found that it is very difficult for me to deal with this kind of bloody scenes, because they will not be displayed "over the top" (as in Zombieland ), but realistic. And honestly, you may call me a coward, but I have not looked closely at some scenes. Already occurring at the very beginning scene with bloody fingers haunts me still. My goodness ...

Okay, something quick to act before I fall back into state of shock.
ballerina Nina (Natalie Portman) gets the chance to dance the lead role in a new production of Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake". This is a dream come true for them. Only does director Thomas (Vincent Cassel) to unimagined a challenge: they must not only dance the role of the fragile white swan, for which it is the ideal person, but also that of the seductive black swan. The pressure to meet the requirements, Nina's sense of reality can ever disappear, and she begins to see in the new Company for abutting, fun-loving Lily (Mila Kunis), a rival that wants to take their place. Soon it will be for the audience difficult to distinguish what is delusion and what is reality ...

Darren Aronofsky (The Wrestler ) has delivered with Black Swan an impressive psychological thriller with horror elements of this can surprise with a great dance scenes. He plays with the audience, they often can be of long in the dark as to how far Nina's delusions. The film is, it can say so clearly, a little mindfuck.
ballet is certainly a good background to present this character study of a young woman who suffers from control and perfection compulsion and it finally breaks. I do not think the reality of the ballet looks - It may be that dancers go there to their limits, however, to make it as psychologically damaged, would be counterproductive. Who is good enough for the big lead roles, is the dance from the heart and not because he got from his childhood on this life as the only true pre preaches.

Natalie Portman plays Nina absolutely believable and engaging, it brings the vulnerability, the desperation of this character across very well. Probably the best performance of her career and her Oscar for it would be safe. Nina has never had a real life - she lives the dream of her mother and is obsessed with everything always absolutely perfect to make. And then comes the role of the black swan, in which they wickedly erotic, is to be seductive - what she fails. As you should know it well - for her mother, she is still the little "girl love", getting old for ever twelve years, Nina and adapts to the.
Then comes the marvelously played by Mila Kunis Lily, the vibrant life in person. It is just what Nina has to be attempted and the role of the black swan are . Lily convinces Nina to a wild party night, in the Nina probably the first time in life just have fun.

Interestingly, however, in this Nina-Lily-dynamics, as Nina is always on Lily projected, and literally looks at their place. Or Lily looks, although it is not there ... Since
offers Black Swan great analytical potential. Just as in the moments when Nina sees blood on their hands, or frantically cut the nails shorter and shorter, so as not more aufzukratzen the back (one of the conventional valves, if you deal with mental pressure can not) - or think you swan wings would grow. For me, some of these scenes on the border of what is tolerable and I have more than once turned a blind eye.
I also liked the use of various other techniques that the Nina's fragile psyche stressed, very good - mirror images a life of its own, giggling female voices out of nowhere, talking pictures ... psychological horror that is certainly not for sensitive souls.

All the other actors are reflected also excellent in their roles. Vincent Cassel plays Leroy Thomas, who sees great potential in Nina and she wants to attract some with questionable methods in the reserve, very convincing and - appropriately, a bit unpleasant.
Barbara Hershey as Nina's mother left us very quickly come to the conclusion that Nina desperately needs a home. Hershey is an over-mother, who wants to see her daughter excel in ballet (which was denied to her in the past), while the personality of her daughter completely suppressed, to be probably without realizing it. Winona Ryder
placed in the supporting role of the former stars of the Company, Beth, who has now been scrapped because of Nina, through an oppressively-good performance.

Let us briefly to the technical aspect. Clint Mansell is a master to take Tchaikovsky's music and adapt to the needs of the film. His compositions also include a very good and provide the appropriate places effective shock effects (damn, you fall again and again inside of it!).
The camera work and cutting are also very wonderful and perfect support act - remain particularly memorable certainly the hysterical party night cut-scene and the scenes from the 2nd and 3 Act of "Swan Lake" performance. And this one mirror shot. * Shudder * They also share the amazing choreography in fantastic scene.

Well. An impressive film. My friends and I were at the beginning of the guy not particularly creative in our opinions. It was limited to "Oh shit!", "Oh my God!", "Was sick!" and "I feel somehow a bit bad." * G * The hall was well attended, with a focus on people between 30 and 50. I am no longer used as an "old" audience. * G * A few isolated young people had lost their way in the movie, but behaved except for the giggles at the masturbation scene, and the Portman / Kunis-bed scene is very good. May have been a bit shocked - I was mine, but that quite a lot of blood for a ballet film ... After that I

the movie with my best friend still widely discussed, since they had to talk about . She almost looked closely all the time and found that exactly this kind of psychological horror that expresses itself in bodily injury, not for you. I can understand. I found some scenes also very challenging, and as I said, I have long looked closely not always (oh god, the scene of the Nail file ...). Not that this aufkäme the impression that we would not find the film well - quite the opposite. The film is excellent. Only she is also very hard.

Conclusion: Great Schaupielerkino, beautiful dance and film psychological thriller with horror elements in one. Certainly not a film for everyone, but absolutely worth a visit to the cinema.
